    Default Radio Kits

Hello all, I am a high school student who purchased a Uniden scanner and listened to a few Hams on the 144-145 mhz and now am trying to get my technician license. But thats not why i'm here. I'm also trying to tie in my senior project into this matter and one of the things we have to do is basically build something. I decided that warming up the old soldering iron and building a kit radio would be great and useful in the long run. However i cannot find any cheap kits. If you know of any transceiver kits out there that i could purchase feel free to reply with the url or the company's name. I was hoping to build a VHF/UHF transceiver but now i'll go for anything. I'm also not 100% sure about the complexity of kits because I've never built one (or any kind of kit really) but i have some electrical and mechanical background. So if you have any suggestions please comment back. Thank you for your time.

i saw that but I forgot to mention that the project is supposed to take 15+ hours to complete and should be challenging. From what i see there were a few good receiver kits and even some transceiver kits but they were discontinued due to low demand. I saw a Hf transceiver by elecraft but i don't know CW code and don't know if i'll ever learn and use it. its also pushing my budget with a hefty 300$ price tag. They have a 10 meter rig but thats 700$. Well the quest continues, thanks for your input.
