I came across a little youtube video ages ago that describes how to build a J-pole, might be of some help for anyone thinking of doing so themselves....

Well in anticipation of passing my tests {which I did}, I decided to make my first J-pole for my shack. Pretty common construction using 1/2 inch copper tube. I turned out pretty good. I just need to get an swr to tune it before I use it. I'll post up a picture in the morning. Of course I'm sure you guys have made much better but hey, it's my first one !
I'm flat out like a lizard drinking.
Thanks for the good times Steve

I did the same....
from this....
to this
to it's current resting place.... lol
As you can probably guess in the last picture local terrain is a little harsh. But i must say the performance is excellent.
Not bad for a few quid and a bit of coax!
MW6 DAV/P & /M mostly at the moment
If you had used a bit more copper tube and made a Slim Jim instead of a J-pole then you would have had a much more effective antenna.
The Slim Jim has a gain of about 6dBd, whereas a Jpole has practically none! Thats about 2 s-points advantage to the Slim Jim.
