Replaced my little TGM MQ26-SR on Friday... and sterling service it provided!
Now atop my Clark scam 12m mast, is a broadband hexbeam
Sprayed it matt olive green... but it doesn't blend in to the foliage from every angle
One of my first qso's with it was with a VK4 who was using the same antenna at the same height!

Hang some socks and underpants from it, no one will notice it then.

It's not much.. Yaesu FT-60R and a 70cm/2m mag mount antenna and a pizza pan. Using my bike repair stand to hold it up. I've added a boom to the bike stand to get the antenna out past the balcony. Work's fairly good. Will change it all out for a j-pole on payday.

When I first got on the air I had a Slim Jim (J-pole) on a rake handle propped up against the wall by my back door.
From there it went to the washing line pole down the garden to the dizzy height of 8 feet off the ground!!
Got a very cheap dual band collinear from a ham boot sale, which is now on a pole at roof height, it all comes together in the end.

Still a lot of work to do like a table that is the right height to operate on and some lighting so I can see what I am doing.

OK, I'm not the world's neatest person. In fact, I may be the world's most UN-neat person. But, here's my shack, such as it is:

    HamShack01.jpg

    From left to right:
    - Ancient railroad signalling light
    - El Cheapo headphones
    - IC-T22A VHF rig
    - PC Power Supply with Garbage PWR/SWR meter on top
    - Frequency counter (shows around 20MHz when not connected to anything)
    - PWR/SWR meter used as FS Meter
    - Mighty-Fine... errr... MFJ Versa-Tuner II SWR/PWR meter, antenna switch and manual tuner
    - IC-730 HF Transceiver
    - Homebuilt Area c/w cheapy key for when I learn Morse (currently connected to DIY tone generator)

And here's the Fancy New 40M vertical: 1 inch aluminum pipe tied to the chimney:

    Antenna_40M.jpg

Next Stuff is a better power supply, homebuilt QRP transmitter, and a bunch of portable/mobile stuff
