11 meter is locked out on the 450D for TX. If I try to key the mic on my 450D on 11m it locks out and says error.

What a waste of a decent radio - and probably one for the "non-Amateur" section of the forum :)

Why?

Dont be too hard on CB, after all, it's where a great deal of exceptional amateur operators first got a taste of radio.

Myself included ;)

well i'm surprised how many uk licensed hams are using ham rigs on cb and freeband frequencies and find this normal... just have a look on some forums and youtube and you find lots of video's... even radcom is testing 10 meters rigs only build for the freebanders.

it's clearly stated that on the legal cb bands only legal cb rigs can be used.

personally i have nothing against cb. also i was on the cb in the 70s/80s. also have a cb 27/81 rig in my 4x4. it's just that rules are rules. same goes for pmr 446 where it's starting to be normal to use more power and illegal channels above the legal 8 channels... starting to call that uhf cb bands!

with an easy 3 tier amateur radio legal system there is no excuse of using illegal rigs & frequencies.

of course this is just my 2 cents
