My QTH is in a big dip and I have hills on 3 sides, this means VHF and UHF is pretty directional for me.
The 2 repeaters that I can access are both in the shadow of the hills which means to access them I have to go to one of the hills, a right pain if the weather isn't good.
Now an M3 that I know who lives atop one the hills has suggested that he builds a home brew repeater for me.
Talking about it, he wants one of these http://www.radioshop888.com/radioshop_product.php?id=104039 and to use 2 of my VHF handhelds.
Now, I am pretty sure it would be against his licence conditions to do this, he says not because it wouldn't be TX'ing all the time as only the people who knew the correct DTMF combination could work it.
This was just a chat we had last night ( you know the sort beer was flowing freely etc..) and like all beer sponsored chats probably a load of bowlocks, but it got me thinking this morning, it can't be legal, can it?
