I've got the FTBVX8 software but no cable yet. I've got a Macbook that also runs Parallels with Windows XP. I've got USB but no 9 pin. Is there a USB cable for the radio and if so what is the source? Thanks for any and all input. 73

Hi Leo, and welcome to the forum.

Although he is a UK seller, try looking at www.G4ZLP.co.uk (http://www.G4ZLP.co.uk) as he does various cables and sells and ships to the USA.

Hope this helps.

Hi Leo,

Here is another source for the VX-8 cable. http://www.rtsystemsinc.com/ I ordered this cable and the software. Works great.

By the way, the cable RT Systems offers is USB.

The only problem with RT is you have to buy everything for the VX8. They won't sell you the cable alone like they will for every other radio. I have software so I don't want to spend $35 extra for that.

Good point. I understand why they did it initially. I believe RT was the first to develop a cable for the VX-8.
