Hello, I have a question I’m hoping to get some assistance on. I’m fairly new to ham radio, less than a year, so forgive me if any of my questions are dumb.

I've been looking at options to transmit video that would in turn stream out over the internet, one option of course is mobile internet but then I heard about Amateur TV which allows video and audio to be transmitted over ham radio bands. Basically what I am looking to find out is if it's possible to do this or even allowed, basically transmit video back to my house and then that video pushed to a computer and streamed live over the internet.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi Joey,

Tech wise, There would be no problem, should be able to do it with the right set up, But license wise, I would very much doubt it, as all transmissions have to be aimed at another amatuar or be an initial call such as a CQ,
This rather sounds like it would be a stream that would be constantly on and not aimed at any one in particular, could be taken as a general broadcast which is against most licensing rules. Best to check this out with your licensing agencey.

I would suggest to look into the mobile broadband option, as this way you should always be connected / in range and there should be no licensing problems. Or of course hard wired to the internet if that is possible.

You could always transmit to an ATV repeater, lots of them are online nowdays...
