Hey Andy,

Looks like the successor to the PROIII, I personally think it looks pretty cool  i really like the widescreen screen wonder how the thing will preform though.

Yeah, the model designations all fit into place now... 7400, 7600, 7700, 7800. Maybe they'll revamp the 7400 into a 7500 adding 70cm, as a 'base' Icom 'shack in the box'?

Price will be interesting for the 7600, I'll go for £2000 - £2500 with the recent Icom price rises.
S meter looks a bit naff, I'm sure the 7700 is better?

Better photo of the 7600 here

You missed the IC7000 :D yes ICOM seem to be keeping with a similar design now for all of the larger rigs!

I expect the s-meter is customisable considering the size of the screen? personally i like bar graphs better.

I wonder if they corrected the megga mistake of only only having one receiver, like in the IC-7700??

The design strategy seems to be exactly the same as the IC-7700, i.e. Icom expects users who want a second receiver to have another rx sitting next to it, hence the provision of easy external sync between 2 radios. Plenty of ops are happy enough with a single receiver, so at least they'll not be paying extra for something of little benefit to them.
And given that the new 7600 seems designed as an everyday rig, I think Icom can get away with it...but as you say, the 7700 has less excuses at its price point.

I expect instead of the two rx's they've added Dual watch back in? to keep the price down.

I've not seen any mention of the IC-7200 (http://www.icomuk.co.uk/categoryRender.asp?categoryID=3510&cCID=7574) around the site, so here are some details.

http://www.icomuk.co.uk/images/icom/fieldsetField/259/IC-7200_frtnewresize.jpg

The forthcoming IC-7200 HF/50MHz transceiver is aimed at a wide Amateur audience. For a beginner looking to buy an inexpensive HF radio, or a HF radio operator looking for a compact IF DSP radio, the IC-7200 is a perfect purchase.

Planned Features

# Simple user interface
The IC-7200's simple layout makes it exceptionally easy to use. Experienced operators will find the functionality of the IC-7200 very intuitive.

# Ideal for indoor and outdoor use
The IC-7200 features military styling, which makes its suitable for all round use.

# IF DSP and Twin PBT
The IC-7200 brings the benefits of IF DSP including digital noise reduction and adjustable bandwidth (no additional filters) as well as the Icoms traditional Twin Pass Band Tuning.

# USB port for PC control
In addition to the retained CI-V interface, the radio can be controlled with direct USB connection to a Windows PC.

# 4-contact power supply connector
# Manual Notch filter
# RF Speech compressor
# Built in voice synthesiser
# Front facing speaker
# And much, much more

Planned Optional Accessories

# MB-116 Front handles (painted aluminum die-cast)
# MB-117 Carrying handle
# MB-118 Mobile mounting bracket
# PS-300 PSU. 30AMP Variable Output

All stated specifications are subject to change without notice or obligation.

Not sure about that whacky 7200 invading a nice 7600 thread
Don't think there's any 7200 stock in the U.K yet? Not sure about price either. No built-in ATU, so you'll possibly have to budget for one as an extra depending on antenna choice.
Looks a durable beast though, water protection... looks good for /MM

I think that's two of your threads I've hijacked so far. I really don't mean to

But since I have :P at least one UK dealer (http://www.radioworld.co.uk/~radio/catalog/icom-ic7200-p-6033.html) is listing it as available October 1st.

No problem :D

Yep, I saw the radioworld listing as well. Personally, I reckon demand is expected to be pretty low for the 7200, so the usual retailers haven't gone to town on publicising its arrival or even thinking about stocking it in any quantity. The models expected to sell arrive quite quickly after their launch.... the 7200 was launced some time ago.

Still, be nice to have a rare radio.
