Been to http://www.kcb.co.uk/shop2/index1.html and they have antennas that are branded as Sharmans but seem to be identical to the Diamond rage except for one thing – price. These antennas are about half the price. Has anyone here ever used any of these things?? :?: :?:

Never heard of them and the shop used to be a CB shop, never known anyone to purchase Ham gear from them. I don't think its worth the risk, Diamond have a good reputation, anything is a copy!

Never heard of them, and like James said not worth risking buying a copy of a Diamond antenna the real thing is brilliant! and worth the money

OK, I'm going to have to disagree, I bought a Moonraker SQBM500 which looks like an X70, (only it didn't cost so much, £70) and it worked brilliantly on 2m.
It did until a woodpecker made a hole in the black cap on the top anyway.
I believe the internals are all stainless, so it should be ok still, not used it for ages.
This vertical has the most gain for under £100 and I recommend highly.

I got a pair of MR 70cms beams a while ago, the internals melted! I was told they were only good for 5w! Its swings and roundabouts!

I use knights quite a lot as they are the nearest shop to me that sell amateur items, the shop is o.k and well stocked, the owner and staff could do with going on an extended "be happy" course cos they are so miserable and have been for over 20 years, sharmans antenna, well i just bought an X-300 and must say i am well impressed with build quality and performance, i would definately buy other sharmans antenna if i needed to...
