I was just wondering if anyone had ever {or knew of one} made a J-pole that was portable. I have this idea about making one that can be taken apart and maybe fit in a cpvc tube maybe 24" long. My reason for wanting to do this is my motorcycle. I travel a lot off off the beaten paths on my bike during the warmer weather and can get to some pretty remote areas. The bike is a KLR 650 dualsport and takes me deep into the wild. A J-pole seems like just the ticket for reaching out from a high vantage point.
My idea was to somehow fabricate either slip joints with sections of high voltage ground strap as a jumper between sections. I could use copper unions but that would increase the weight quite a bit, not to mention I have no idea on how it would effect swr.
I think the ideal height would be 20' from the ground up. the base is the easy part, just cpvc . curious if I'm nuts for wanting to do this or if perhaps any of you have a better idea. I'm all ears as they say. I will defer to the wisdom of those that know.
