OK All,

Thought I'd get this sub topic on the forum active! How do you print labels for QSL Cards? or perhaps you still hand write them?

Personally I use BV7, All my contacts are exported from HRD then imported into BV7 which does all the management of QSL Cards which works out perfectly for me, do this not only for my qsl cards but also special event stations.

What do you use?

I still use manual methods, i think it makes it a wee bit more personal. Then again I never send that many cards, just a few. Usually forward to bureau twice a year, hence i'm home brewing cards. Just had a redesign lately- was still using cards with my foundation call! :D

Nothing wrong with manual Jon :), used that method for a couple of years in till the load started to grow  so labels seemed a good option. I do agree written ones do show that someone put effort into it.

is there a standard size for QSL cards ? would something the size of a biz card be acceptable or is that bad form ?

I have heard 5.5"x3.5" is ideal, but with the lack of QSL cards I produce currently I could very well be wrong.

gunny - Business sized cards are called "eyeball" cards, and are exchanged at hamfests and other such gatherings. They contain all the info on the QSL card, just no place to fill in contact info.
Most cards are 3.5 X 5.5 as stated earlier, but quite a few DX stations use larger cards. DXpeditions often use folded cards to get all the info printed.
Special cards from stations like the Queen Mary (moored in California) are much wider.
I have a few cards hand printed on currency from South America where the money was almost worthless at the time.

I have used BV7 for label printing, but these days do all by hand. I have also used Avery standard A4 sheets of labels, code
L7163 (I think) - standard address sized labes.

My current cards:-

Very nice QSL card you have there Jim! Mines just a 1 colour single sided one, which fits my uni budget.

I'd love some full colour ones! 8) have to say BV is brilliant bonus that its free too.

Hi,

I got into PSK just a few months ago, creating a backlog of about 350 QSL cards ;-)
Hand writing them all was out of the question, so I turned to BV7 and that really turned out to be the right choice.
Brilliant program, saved me quite a few hours and a sour hand :D
Thumbs up to DF3CB!!

p.s. I still wrote a personal thank you on each card, the labels just contained callsign, time, date, band, mode and RST

I'm probably the only one that uses Bryce3D :D
then again I've only ever actually sent (paper) a few.
Render them up, then take the file on a USB stick to snappysnaps etc...

there's a few here:-

Mostly, they are sent over the air with digital radio mondiale (where's the DRM forum?)

Printers are expensive and wasteful - Dem dislikes printers...

oh, and one really should scribble something on the back...
